Android heavyweights HTC have dropped the price of their premium range of handsets by 10% starting today. Potential Irish buyers will now have a little more reason to hunt down a HTC U11 with the highly-rated premium handset now falling into the sub-premium price-bracket. HTC U11+ also sees a drop with the phablet now starting at €669.

I Know U Quite Well
This tech writer reviewed HTC U11 in his other job just over a year ago and found the sound capabilities to be unmatched by other devices. The combination of personalised EQs based on scans of your ears, superb-quality earphones and noise-cancellation as standard gave HTC’s U-line an excellent USP.
Another, more ‘imaginative’ USP is the squeezable body design. Acting as an extra input, a quick or long squeeze can be assigned to various apps. While this function takes a little getting used to, going straight to camera or switching on the torch without a thought becomes exceptionally useful.
The longstanding ‘plain’ look of the HTC premium line was left behind in favour of a light-bending glass rear and attractive colour options. The 64GB storage model comes with 4GB of RAM and Snapdragon 835 deliver an unflinching, smooth user experience.
Phablet Version
As mentioned, HTC U11+ will now start at €669 for the 128GB, 6GB RAM version. The 64GB U11+ is not available in this region. For that price, the HTC U11’s phablet gets a screen upgrade; a 6″ 1140p display and it moves from LCD5 to LCD6. The extra real estate, storage and RAM comes, of course, with HTC’s USonic as standard.
HTC’s next series of handsets are on the horizon with the HTC U12+ set to release sometime this summer and mid-range HTC Desire 12+ already available.
