Last year we reviewed the Overwatch Razer Gaming Gear and we loved it, it was a perfect set for any Overwatch fan. This year Razer have brought out the Destiny 2 Razer gear and again, we are loving it. The full set includes a Razer Ornata Chroma, a Razer Deathadder Elite, a Razer Mano’war Tournament Edition and a Razer Goliathus mouse pad, all branded with the Destiny 2 logo and colours. Check out what we though of each of the products below!
Destiny 2 Razer Ornata Chroma
Razer released the Ornata Chroma, a gaming keyboard with hybrid switches way back in October 2016. The gaming keyboard came installed with hybrid switches which were a big move from the clicky BlackWidow style that their top-tier keyboard always swore by.
The all-black Razer keyboard measures 463x31x154 mm (WxHxD, without palm rest) and weighs almost 950 grams. The keyboard comes with the classic full-size layout and the case is made of sturdy plastic but it is missing the 5 macro keys on the left side that gamers could remap different functions. This is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, I no longer use my Ult in Overwatch instead of hitting shift, but now I hit shift instead of using my Ult.
The board has rubber feet on the back to ensure a non-slip gaming session. Also, the inclination angle of the input device can be adjusted. The braided data cable comes with a sufficient length of two meters. The included palm rest, which magnetically attaches to the keyboard, ensures greater writing comfort.The keyboard uses half-height keycaps and special hybrid switches. The key-stroke is only two millimetres. This short path gives the player a low reaction time with the Ornata.

But even as a prolific writer you will thoroughly enjoy typing with this keyboard.

With the new “mecha membrane” switches, Razer combines conventional rubber bells with a special plastic attachment. This attachment not only provides the acoustic feedback from mechanical switches but also improves the pressure point of the keys. The durability of the rubber bells could increase Razer so clearly.
Typical for a Rubberdome keyboard: there are “only” 10-key rollovers. In plain English, this means: A maximum of ten simultaneous strokes plus two modifiers such as CTRL or SHIFT are possible.The new Ornata has a few special and media functions that are triggered by double-button assignments:
- F1: Mute
- F2: Volume down
- F3: Volume up
- F5: Back
- F6: Play / Pause
- F7: Prev
The “F9” key can be used to create macros on the fly. “F10” deactivates the Windows keys. With the “F11” and “F12” keys the intensity of the key illumination can be adjusted. Speaking of lighting: The Ornata Chroma model has customizable RGB lighting (16.8 million colours, all buttons, various lighting modes, ten levels). Dedicated macro keys and additional connection options do not exist.
In the meantime, Razer has updated “Synapse 2.0”, the software for in-house input devices, to key positions. The software is very user-friendly and you will find your way around very quickly. As before, however, a user account at Razer will be required for operation, although no permanent Internet connection, as the software wants to compensate for the missing onboard memory of the keyboard with cloud functionality.
Destiny 2 Razer Deathadder Elite
Razer unveiled a reissue of the popular DeathAdder back in the third-quarter of 2016. The “Elite” model has the brand new “5G” sensor, which has been called the “most advanced sensor” so far. In addition to true 16,000 DPI, lush speed values and high-resolution accuracy are to be achieved. Lets put the new gaming rodent to the test!
The Razer Deathadder Chroma was actually the Winner of our “Best mouse of 2016” award. Had we had access to this one at the time it could well have blown its predecessor out of the water.
The black coated rodent measures 70 x 44 x 127 mm (W x H x D) and was made of sturdy plastic. Razer gives his mouse a matte anti-slip coating. There are six buttons available for input (including a two-way mouse wheel), which are freely programmable, with the exception of the left mouse button. Among the main mouse buttons are high-quality and long-lasting Omron switches (50 million clicks according to the manufacturer), which have a light and direct pressure point, which we found extremely positive during our test phase.
The smooth-running mouse wheel with medium-strong screening was also convincing. The new DeathAdder Elite brings just under 105 grams on the scales – the weight can’t be changed. Three Teflon feet on the underside ensure a high lubricity. The textile-coated USB data cable has been quite neat with a length of two meters. An eye-catching feature is an illuminated logo as well as the mouse wheel (RGB), which can also be illuminated so that the rodent is immediately recognized even in a dark environment.
The built-in 5G sensor unit provides a maximum resolution of “real” 16,000 DPI (ie without interpolation). With this sensor, the user reaches up to 450 IPS (inches per second) and a 50 G acceleration. The maximum USB frequency is as usual now at 1,000 Hz, but by default 500 Hz are set.The clear “Razer Synapse” software makes it easy to create macros and profiles.The RGB lighting can also be adapted to your own wishes.All settings are stored in the Razer Cloud (requires an online account) – there is no internal memory.The mouse is automatically detected at 7, 8 / 8.1 and 10.The connection is via USB 2.0.
In our everyday test, the DeathAdder Elite confirms the very good overall impression. In PLAYERUNKNOWNS: BATTLEGROUNDS, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch and CoD WWII it controls very precisely and can easily adapt to different preferences and abilities thanks to the fast and comfortable DPI setting. Especially in fast action titles, the 5G sensor shows its strengths.
We find the handling of the DeathAdder Elite to be successful. The two main buttons are slightly shaped and provide the fingers with perfect support and precise feedback about the position. The layout is designed for right-handed operation, with the two side mouse buttons are pleasantly large and therefore no likelihood of confusion exists. Rubberized side parts provide a very good grip when gambling.
Destiny 2 Razer Mano’war Tournament Edition
Razers ManO’War Wireless 7.1 surround sound gaming headset is an excellent headset that will excite PC gamers in particular. For those who prefer doddling at the consoles or do not have quite that much coin for Khajite, there is now a lookup in the form of the Destiny 2 Razer ManO’War Tournament Edition that retails for €119.99.
At first glance, the Razer Manowar seems very bulky, giving the impression that it is very heavy and uncomfortable. But if we take a closer look, we notice the good padding of the earcups and the headband. In addition, the materials used, mostly plastic, keep the overall weight very low. The design of the headset is largely identical to the big wireless brother, but due to the lack of transmitter and battery, it is much lighter. Added to this is the visual difference. The still somewhat chunky design of the howler is matched to the look of the game with white and black plastic parts, Destiny 2 lettering on the headband and symbols on the ear cups.
One downside is that I have a small/average head and this thing is HUGE. I had to adjust it to balance it properly but at the smallest size, it should fit better than it does. That aside, the earcups are quite comfortable and would easily last out during long play sessions.
The connection is made by means of a textile coated 3.5 mm jack cable with a full 1.3 meters in length. A Y-switch cable is included and is also generously sized at 2 meters. Accordingly, the headset can be connected to all sound sources, from the PC via the consoles to mobile devices. Thanks to an in-line control unit on the cable you can easily control the volume or turn the microphone on and off.
Similar to the big brother, this variant does not spoil the sound. The ManO’War delivers a thoroughly balanced gaming sound with strong bass, good midrange and clear highs. Only in terms of volume performance, we have already experienced stronger representatives of the genus. The high-quality 50mm drivers make the headset in any case a clear recommendation for gamers, which is worth its price.
Razer has not skimped on the microphone either. While other, certainly high-priced representatives in this regard have unsightly weaknesses, the manufacturer makes everything right with the ManO’War. The retractable, flexible microphone transmits speech clearly without noticeable noise. Even background noises are well intercepted and not forwarded to the other players. It is a pity that there is no microphone monitoring. On the other hand, the shielding is not so extreme that you can not hear your own banter.
Of course, this is not exactly cheap, but after all, it’s all about proven products. We were able to examine the complete set-up over several days extensively and are extremely satisfied that no cheap license product is offered, just high-quality equipment.
Destiny 2 Razer Goliathus
When it comes to peripherals, many people get everything they need and if there’s enough dime leftover they might get a mousepad. First of all, they don’t cost anywhere near what the other stuff will so at €10 – €20 you have no excuse. Secondly, the quality of the mousepad you invest in will determine how accurate your precision is, which is important if you want to hit Diamond on Overwatch.
The thing I like about this pad versus some of the older ones is that the edge is stitched meaning the edges won’t peel or fall apart. This means you can bring it with you without much worry. The underside is a rubber anti-slip surface that will grip to anything and the top is a solid weave that ensures a smooth migration from the sensor. Here’s what you get with it:

In my opinion, hard mouse-pads are a waste of money, they cost 3 times as much, you can’t bring them anywhere and all that RGB crap they are putting on them make them look overly tacky. Don’t be that guy, seriously! If you want a nice, medium-sized pad and not so convinced of the hard plastic pads, you can safely access here. The mouse glides almost frictionless on the fabric and neither fabric, nor mouse damage. Top product for the price and nice packaging!
