After being announced at last year’s E3, Microsoft has confirmed in their E3 2017 conference that their new console is called the Xbox One X. It’ll retail for €499 and be released worldwide on November 7th.

All Xbox One accessories will work with the One X as well as Backwards compatible Xbox 360 games and  Xbox One games. And don’t worry if you only have a 1080p TV. The One X will use a “super sampling” technique which will make games look even better on a Full HD TV.

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, shall we?

It boasts 6 Teraflops of computing power with 40 customised compute units at 1172MHz along with 12GB of super-fast GDDR5 RAM. The Xbox One X will have 326GB/s of memory bandwidth. It will be 40% more powerful than any other console. The Xbox One X will also be shipping with an Ultra HD Blu-Ray drive for 4K movies. A 1TB Hard Drive also comes as standard on the One X. And for the first time ever in a console, the One X will have a liquid-cooled vapour- chamber inside, usually reserved for high-end graphics cards.Microsoft also confirmed that it is the smallest Xbox ever made but didn’t give an exact percentage on how much smaller than the Xbox One S. Also no word on whether the power supply is built in or if we have to deal with a hideous power brick.

Xbox One X  v PS4 PRO

When you compare these specs with the PS4 Pro, it beats it in all areas. The One X has 12GB of RAM compared to the PS4 Pro’s 8GB. The One X Has 6 Teraflops of GPU power compared to the Pro’s 4.2. Also, Sony unforgivingly decided not to include a 4K Blu-Ray player in the Pro while Microsoft did the opposite. Microsoft boasted on multiple occasions that this machine will be capable of delivering “True 4K gaming” while Sony uses a checkerboard rendering technique to upscale the picture to 4K.

But, perhaps most importantly, the Pro is €100 cheaper than the One X. You also have to take into consideration first-party titles that are available to each console. That’s a big plus for the Pro. So while it will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro, it simply doesn’t have the 1st party games line-up to compete with Sony.
