One benefit that PC gamers over Console gamers is that steam users don’t have to worry about “backward compatibility”. Steam hosts a vault of different games from this years AAA games to titles first released on the original Xbox and PS1. They also don’t have to worry about whether or not their machine can run the latest games, anyone running a desktop PC can easily upgrade their system, usually at a lower cost than shelling out for the latest console.
Dell’s Alienware Alpha looks at bridging the gap by offering a console-like PC that sits in your living room just like your Playstation or Xbox. It’s small, light and looks great! This is the ideal set-up for those that envy the simplicity of console gamers but don’t want to give up that PC-gamer title.
The controller was the only thing I wasn’t too keen on. Overall I thought it was pretty good but I took issue with the lack of thumbsticks, instead the controller utilizes dual trackpads. I felt that the accuracy was much lower and that I had less control than if I were using the likes of an Xbox One controller. One of the staff at the event explained that because it is designed to run a PC OS, using a 3rd party controller is easily done.
