Nintendo Will Fix Broken Joy-Cons For Free, Refund Prior Repairs

The Nintendo Switch is an amazing console, the wide variety of games available and the ability to take your console on the go are two major pluses. However not everyone is enjoying the console to its fullest.

There have been reports that the Switch’s Joy-Con Controllers are “drifting” and Nintendo has been quick to try to rectify this situation by instructing its customer service representatives to get the controllers repaired for free. Normally you would have to have proof of purchase or at least a paper trail showing you bought the console but Nintendo are saying there will be no questions asked and that if you have previously paid to get them repaired you will now receive a refund.

Joy-Con drift is where the two thumb-sticks on the Switch controllers detect movement and begin to “drift” even when the player is not touching the controllers. I can see how in quite a few games this can be very frustrating especially in games like Dark Souls where you can argue the game has enough challenge without the console adding more unintended difficulty.

I think this stance on the matter shows that Nintendo is taking the matter seriously and I feel that this is something that they will be focusing on and aiming to solve as soon as possible. Some people claim the matter isn’t solved when they get the controllers back or that it just happens again in a few months so this matter must just be a temporary fix but I do think that Nintendo are attempting to fix the issue.
