7 years after it was first announced, The Last Guardian has been delayed by just over a month.

This comes after a long line of delays and controversy. Originally announced in 2009, it was to be a designed for the Ps3.

It then had a release date set for winter 2011, but was then cancelled due to “technical difficulties”. The game’s creator, Fumito Ueda then left Sony in 2013 and up until E3 2015, no one knew if  this game would ever be made.

Ueda returned and is now working with Sony japan to finish the game.

Shuhei Yoshida, President SCE Entertainment Studios, wrote on Playstation.com that  “we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.”

It will now launch just over a month later, on the 6th of December 2016.
