To celebrate the return of iDig Music Festival to Dublin, the very kind organisers have provided us with a pair of tickets to give away on EliteGamer for their event on April 29 – May 1 .
So whether you’re a casual gamer who wants to hear their favourite game soundtracks live or you just like video game music, then this competition is the one for you.

Oh, and please only enter if you’re reasonably likely to be able to attend The Dublin-based event. The winner will be selected on Friday 22 April 2016, no more entries will be accepted after this date.
One (1) winner will be selected at random. The Winner will be notified via email and announced on the Elite Gamer Facebook page and our Twitter account on 22 April 2016. The Winner will be required to acknowledge receipt of such email within two (2) working days of such receipt. Cool! Can’t wait to see this again this year! Video Game Music probably most impacted my life when the band I was in around 2004-2008 covered Frank Klepacki’s Hell March from Red Alert 1. We had such a blast playing that song. We bonded as musicians and friends and I’ve epic memories of getting halls full of teenages marching along to create the boot sound effects. I remember getting GTA IV at 12am on launch day, 2008. So excited to finally have this game I’d been anticipating for years! I got home and popped the disc in my PS3 but that install! Luckily we had the awesome theme music, that perfectly set the tone for the game, to listen to while we waited. ☺
My earliest memory of a game soundtrack is the first ever Sonic the Hedgehog. I stayed up all night trying to complete it on the Sega Mega Drive! The game went audibly crazy.
The greatest video game music that has impacted my life were 6 songs. Green Hill Act 1 in Sonic, Ken’s Stage from Street Fighter II Champion Edition, Metal Gear Solid main theme, the Shenmue main theme, the Halo theme from Halo 1, and Apotheosis from Journey, a song that literally brought a tear to my eye. Any time I hear these, I’m reminded of the awesome times I played those games with my brother, cousins and friends when I was younger and how I long to have those great times back again. When I first played the Halo series I absolutely fell in love with the soundtrack and even though I don’t play the series anymore I can’t help but still adore it. A large chunk of my music is just OSTs, some from games I haven’t even played.
To me music in video games plays an essential part in how a story is told. When I think of my favourite video game, I think of the music. Some of my favourite games comes soley down to the soundtrack and the emotion that each song carries. My favourite game to date is Bioshock. I didn’t know what I was expecting when I first played that game but the second the game starts and you hear “The Ocean on his Shoulders”, I get goosebumps.
