Last week we reviewed GXT 188 Laban RGB Gaming Mouse, a high-end mouse from Trust Gaming with a lot of features but without the high price usually attached to similar peripherals. Today I will be looking at the GXT 890 Cada RGB Mechanical Keyboard. This is the top-tier keyboard in Trusts gaming range and boasts a bunch of features.

The keyboard comes with a black aluminium shell, full mechanical keys and RGB lighting. Surprisingly there is no option for a wrist rest, something I feel should have been included for something of this calibre. The keys are a nice height, last up to 50 million keystrokes and also have a 5ms of response time. Unlike most mechanical keyboards there is no “click”. This could be an issue with many gamers who are mechanical purists.

The Cada is equipped with RGB LED lighting. Each individual button can be illuminated and a different colour can be displayed per piece. Trust provides Gaming Keyboard software with which you can set different profiles or effects such as a rainbow, waves, the keys reacting and illuminated key after pressing it, a whole row of keys that light up when you press a key on that row etc. Apart from the 10 saved presets you can also change the colours manually which is very useful for certain games or play styles. The keyboard would look good in any gaming setup, especially if you already have RGB peripherals.

The GXT 890 CADA RGB Mechanical keyboard from Trust Gaming is a very nice keyboard, especially for gamers who find the mechanical “clicking” annoying. It has a very fast reaction time and the RGB lighting and customisation is on par with many of the larger brands. The keyboard is available now for €89.99, which is slightly more than what you might pay for a standard keyboard.
