There was a tonne of big announcements at yesterdays Nintendo Direct event, but none more than confirmation that Super Smash Bros is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

It will be released later this year but Nintendo wasn’t that generous when giving out details on it. What we do know is that Super Smash Bros is a working title at the moment. We also know that “recognizable faces like Mario, Link and the Inklings from the Splatoon series”.

Other major announcements from the event include

  • Splatoon 2: A brand new Single-Player DLC for Splatoon will be launching this summer. It’s called Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion and allows players to play as the new character, Agent 8. The DLC contains over 80 missions so you’ll definitely be getting your moneys worth with it. Players can pre-purchase the DLC starting today in Nintendo eShop to immediately receive Octo-themed in-game gear to use in battle right away
  • Mario Tennis Aces: More info was given in regards to Mario tennis aces. You can play local multiplayer with up to 4 players along with online multiplayer. It also includes creative boss battles in story mode.
  • Kirby Star Allies: Releasing in less than 10 days, we now have a better idea of what to expect from the game. Fan favourite legacy characters will also be making appearances throughout the campaign.Updates will be added by the devs which will add some of your favourite characters. The first update will hit March 28th and will add classic characters such as Marx, Gooey and character set “Rick & Kine & Coo” to the game. A free demo is currently available on Nintendo eShop.
  • CrashBandicoot N.Sane Trilogy: No longer a PS4 exclusive, Crash will be making an appearance on the Nintendo Switch on July 10th.
  • Okami HDis coming to the Switch. Players can use the touch screen in handheld mode or the Joy-Con motion controls in TV or Tabletop Mode to control the Celestial Brush to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. It releases this summer.
  • South Park: The Fractured But Whole: the critically acclaimed RPG is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Also included will be all add-on content. It releases on April 24.
