Japanese electronic and mobile giants have announced a follow-up to the well-received Xperia XZ2 fresh from the floor of Berlin-Messe at IFA. The Xperia XZ3 will feature a 6-inch curved OLED screen which they claim is 'powered by Sony's award-winning BRAVIA OLED TVs'

While there is nothing wrong with giving budget users a premium look and feel über alles, a little more under hood might be preferred sometimes. Nokia 3.1 can need more attention than other budget phones to really get the best from it.

Plenty of RAM, some great features and a generous battery make the Xperia a decent option for its price. But the device's camera, overall look and screen let it down.

Sony's first OLED is a thing of beauty, even with the fairly pointless curvature. New addition 'Side-sense' echoes HTC U11's ancillary input but it's a more comprehensive use of the method. Refinements to Sony's Xperia launcher have slowly brought to a fantastic Android skin. The best Xperia flagship to date - even without a 3.5mm jack.

Nokia impress with their upcoming offerings. The 8110 is solid and snappy. Nokia 6 and 7plus carry a unique and attractive physical design that should help them stand out. At €249 and €399 respectively, they are a pair to be reckoned with.

Huawei's 'other' flagship is a better prospect than P20 Pro - Mate 20 Pro is superior in most areas; beating the previous camera champion, increasing stamina and running Pie 9.0 from day one.

Fresh from a bunch of Phone of the Year Awards and a controversy or two, Huawei launch the follow-up to DxOMark champ, the P20. P30 Series aims for camera excellence again with new features and some buffs to established ones.

Evolution rather than revolution. Galaxy S9+ is probably still worth the €1,000 asking price when compared to the iPhone X

The poor chassis speakers, lack of splashproofing and camera inconsistency may betray it somewhat when lined up with premium flagships. However, the Honor View 10 can compete elsewhere despite coming in around €200-300 less expensive than others.

Huawei set their sights on Samsung's just announced Galaxy Fold - Huawei's Mate X looks a better but more expensive product.
